The "Chinese Wall" around America
When I see this cartoon, it describes to me how in China they have a Great Wall. In this cartoon Americans have constructed a "great wall" and in order to reach the other side, you need be hard-working, and do the best you can to better your future. The cartoon is trying to say in order to pass this wall, you have to try to be and do all that you can to better your dreams and actually live the American Dream.
Many Chinese Americans have reached the level to come across the American border because they are dedicated to a better future by setting up restaurants, taking care of children, etc. Some Chinese Americans fought for opportunity despite the danger. The Chinese not only suffered from racism, they suffered from many other economic difficulties. They prospered to become a part of America and the Dream. Many people came looking more for a new livelihood and a new homeland (Becoming American, the Chinese Experience).
